MARTINSRIED, Germany (AFX) - MediGene AG said it has launched a clinical phase IIa trial for rheumatoid arthritis drug RhuDex.Results for the trial on 35 people are expected in the second half of 2007.This will be followed by a full phase II trial on 200 people in 2008, said the biotech company in a statement.'With the start of this clinical study, we have reached a very important milestone on the road to opening up the market potential of this drug candidate,' said CEO Peter Heinrich.RhuDex was added to MediGene's clinical portfolio as part of its acquisition of Avidex Ltd in 2006.krysia.diver@afxnews.comkd/jfrCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
