Avaya hires Merck exec as new CFO |

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. (AFX) - Communications equipment and software maker Avaya Inc. said Tuesday it named former Merck & Co. executive Caroline Dorsa as chief financial officer.Dorsa most recently served as vice president and treasurer at Merck. She was also secretary of the finance committee of Merck's board. Before joining Merck in 1987, she worked for the Mayor's Office of the City of New York, promoting economic development in midtown Manhattan.Dorsa's appointment at Avaya will be effective in early February.Avaya said in October 2006 that Chief Financial Officer Garry K. McGuire would retire at the end of the year. McGuire, 59, will work as a senior adviser until March 30.
