(Updating with further details)PRAGUE (Thomson Financial) - Czech Coal, the owner of the Czech largest brown coal mines Mostecka Uhelna, has launched talks with Germany's utility E.ON to build a 2 bln eur power plant in a joint venture in the Czech Republic, Czech Coal said today.'Czech Coal has started exclusive negotiations with E.ON Energie AG and E.ON Kraftwerke GmbH on a joint venture,' Czech Coal said. The 1,200 MWh plant will use coal from Mostecka, Czech Coal said. According to earlier reports, E.ON should supply know-how and technology to the operation.Czech Coal has launched negotiations with E.ON after talks with Czech power utility CEZ on long-term coal power supplies failed in June. The state-controlled CEZ said Czech Coal would only sign a contract for long-term coal deliveries until 2055 if CEZ promised to push for the relaxation of the government's ecological limits on mining the estimated 800 mln ton coal deposits in Mostecka territory.CEZ filed a lawsuit against Czech Coal on June 29, claiming that it broke an agreement that the long-term contract will be signed and thus jeopardises CEZ's plans to build a new coal-powered 1.3 GW plant in Pocerady, near Mostecka in the north of the Czech Republic.jana.mlcochova@thomson.com +420 222 191 108jm1//cmrCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
