Nokia phones to offer Microsoft services |

REDMOND, Wash. (AP) - Microsoft Corp. said Wednesday that mobile phone maker Nokia will carry the Windows Live suite of Web-based services on its handsets.Customers in 11 countries, mostly in Europe, who have Nokia S60 handsets can now access Windows Live E-mail, messaging and organizer features. The services will be available on Nokia's Series 40 platform next year.Initially the service will be available as a free trial, and then customers in certain markets may be asked to pay a monthly fee.Microsoft is competing against Web companies such as Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc. to reach customers who are increasingly using mobile devices to go online.Nokia is based in Finland.Nokia American Depositary Shares rose 10 cents to $30.63 in premarket trading Thursday after closing at $30.53 Wednesday.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
