FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Freenet AG chief executive officer Eckhard Spoerr said he would like a meeting with mobile telephony operator Drillisch AG as soon as possible, after the company raised its stake in Freenet to 28.56 pct yesterday from 10.08.'As soon as Drillisch gets hold of the share stake, we will start a constructive dialogue,' said Spoerr.Drillisch wants to use the stake to put pressure on Freenet to sell off its digital subscriber line (DSL) operations, the idea being that Freenet would buy Drillisch in return.Spoerr did not rule out the notion, saying: 'We will continue our strategic assessment.'Morgan Stanley is in the process of finding a buyer for all or parts of Freenet.Drillisch CEO Paschalis Choulidis has voiced criticism of Spoerr in the past month, calling him a 'newcomer' to the field of mobile telephony.Spoerr said he has no intention of stepping down, though, saying: 'I think one should look forward rather than back.'He said he sees no obstacle to constructive cooperation.tf.TFN-Europe_newsdesk@thomson.commur/jsaCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
