NEW YORK (AP) - Pfizer Inc., the world's largest drugmaker, said Friday a court in Denmark blocked the sale of a generic version of the company's best-selling drug, cholesterol-reducer Lipitor. The company said the Bailiff's Court of the Copenhagen City Court in Denmark issued a preliminary injunction against the country's largest drug wholesaler Nomeco AS, preventing it from selling a generic version of Lipitor made by Indian drugmaker Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd.Nomeco can appeal the decision but the injunction requires all generic Lipitor to be withdrawn from the market. Pfizer is suing Ranbaxy in Denmark and several other countries claiming Ranbaxy's generic Lipitor product violates Pfizer patents. A trial in Denmark still needs to be scheduled. The injunction covers all three of Pfizer's patents in contention, the company said.Lipitor, the world's best-selling prescription drug, generated sales of $12.89 billion in 2006.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
