TAIPEI (XFN-ASIA) - Industrial output in June was down 1.80 pct from May but up 7.45 pct year-on-year, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MoEA) said.The industrial output index, which is based on the 2001 benchmark of 100, stood at 150.41 in June.In May, industrial output rose 7.55 pct from the preceding month and was up a revised 6.59 pct year-on-year.For the first six months of the year, the industrial output index rose 3.47 pct to 141.00.The MoEA said the manufacturing sector index in June was down 2.15 pct from the preceding month but up 7.37 pct year-on-year.The June housing construction sector index was up 2.70 pct from May, and up 21.68 pct compared with a year earlier, it said.Approved housing start applications in area terms fell 23.34 pct month-on-month, and were down a further 27.06 pct year-on-year, the MoEA added.adela.lin@afxasia.compw/al/kmqxfnal/xfnkmCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
