BRUSSELS (Thomson Financial) - The European Commission said it has cleared Italy-based ENI's proposed acquisition of Exxon Mobil Corp unit Esso's Hungarian, Czech and Slovakian motor fuel retail operations.The deal also includes certain assets and contracts of Exxon Mobil Corp relating to the lubricants business in these countries.The commission said the transaction would not impede effective competition in the European Economic Area.simon.zekaria@thomson.comsz/cmrCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
