ATHENS (AFX) - The Greek economy will probably exit European Union surveyance in the next three to four months, EU monetary affairs commissioner Mr Almunia noted yesterday from Brussels. The recent upward revision of Greeces GDP could have an impact on the countrys planned exit from supervision, even though deficit is projected at 2.4 pct of GDP in 2007.The reason being that the increased GDP is likely to result to higher contribution on Greeces part to the EU budget, a development that could have an adverse impact on deficit. At presemnt the government is expected to submit its final deficit figures for 2006 and its projections for 2007-8 (excluding the recent GDP revision) by March. The GDP revision also depends strongly on an ongoing Eurostats examination, which could delay the whole process until autumn.Athens, Euro2day NewsWire, 10.17 local time.dglistras@euro2day.grjsa/gpCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
