LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Xstrata PLC said it has lifted the 'force majeure' declaration on its copper shipments from the Bajo de la Alumbrera mine in Argentina.Xstrata over a week ago delayed two shipments from the mine because of flood damage on a railway line to the port, forcing it to declare a 'force majeure' on its deliveries. The railway track has been repaired over the weekend, said an Xstrata spokeswoman, adding 'the 'force majeure' is no longer in place.'Production was not affected by the flooding, she said.Declaring a 'force majeure' relieves Xstrata of performing certain obligations under its contracts.Xstrata owns 50 pct of Alumbrera, which has an annual output capacity of 190,000 tonnes of copper concentrate. Its partners include Northern Orion Resources Inc and Goldcorp Inc.monicca.egoy@thomson.commbe/icCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
