MUMBAI (Thomson Financial) - AB Volvo and Ford Motor Co's Ford India Ltd are planning to launch vehicles that have a common platform, the Business Standard reported, citing Volvo's India MD Paul de Voijs.'Future launches in India could be a part of our global synergy with Ford Motor,' he told the newspaper, adding the companies may share a common technology platform.The Indian subsidiaries of both firms are chalking out a joint strategy under which Volvo will cater to the high-end market, while Ford will feed the mid-size segment, as it did with the Ikon and Fiesta models.Ford India's president Arvind Mathew said he would not rule out common platform models with Volvo for the Indian market in which Volvo will make its debut later this year.
