The US wing of Scottish Power, PPM Energy presently monitors and controls almost 830 megawatts (MW) of wind power across seven states.
With projected capital investment of £235 million, it aims to acquire and build a new wind farm in Northern California. This acquisition from enXco, an affiliate of EDF Energies Nouvelles of France, will crown, Scottish utility provider as wind power leaders in the United States, for projects announced in 2005.
PPM Energy formulates effective plans of developing 150 megawatt (MW) Shiloh wind project, which will play an integral role in enhancing economic growth and subsequently boost earnings.
| With an end objective to bring on-line 2300 MW of wind power by 2010, it had earlier announced 424 MW of combined projects under development in 2005. PPM pioneers and breaks record by proclaiming to complete 574 MW in the year with the Shiloh project consisting 150 MW.
These calculations and the others sum up to approximately 1400 MW under the control of PPM by the end of this year.
“PPM is pleased to bring online this fifth project for 2005, extending our US wind power footprint from California to New York” says PPM’s Chief Executive, Terry Hudgens. He further adds that “
Our pipeline of projects has grown during the year and we are pleased to be bringing a large number of opportunities to the development stage."
To be sold under long-term agreements, output from the wind farm is being proactively marketed. With the Joint Venture Partner, Zilkha Renewable Energy and PPM, the firm will build and also own Maple Ridge Wind farm in upstate New York.
