MUMBAI (Thomson Financial) - Swiss pharmaceutical group Novartis AG has sued India's Dr Reddy's Laboratories for patent infringement on hypertension drug Lotrel, DNA Money reported. The litigation is in response to Dr Reddy's Para IV challenge to sell the copycat version of the drug that has sales of 1.2 bln usd annually.Even if Dr Reddy's wins the litigation, analysts do not expect much upside from it as Teva, which was first to file, had relaunched the generic version in June after a US court withdrew an earlier temporary restraining order, the paper said. The exclusivity on Lotrel expires on Nov 18 by which time more players are expected to enter the fray, thereby diminishing the market with prices crashing to just around 2-5 pct of the brand value, the paper said.TFN.newsdesk@thomson.comans/ranCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
