Barr gets reissued Seasonale patent |

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. (AP) - Drug developer Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. said Tuesday the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office reissued the company's patent covering the birth-control pill Seasonale.The patent now has an expiration date of June 23, 2017. The drug was launched in 2003.Barr's application for the patent had been rejected three time, starting in 2004 when Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. started seeking approval for a generic version. Watson launched its generic version of Seasonale in September after previously saying Barr's patent was 'invalid, unenforceable, or would not be infringed,' by a competing generic product.Shares of Barr closed Monday at $54.25, while shares of Watson closed at $31.72.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
