JAKARTA (Thomson Financial) - Indonesian shares are expected to open mixed Thursday after a volatile session on Wall Street

overnight although some stocks may rise on upbeat third-quarter results.

Bank Negara Indonesia, the country's third-largest bank, may be in focus after it reported late Wednesday that its consolidated net profit in the first nine months of 2007 rose 10.7 percent to 1.56 trillion rupiah, aided by higher fee-based income, which offset a drop in net interest income.

'I expect the market to open mixed today given a lackluster performance on Wall Street overnight,' Trimegah Securities analyst Satrio Utomo said.

Yesterday, the composite index closed down 28.82 points or 1.1 percent at 2,524.98.

Volume was 4.65 billion shares valued at 5.89 trillion rupiah.

The LQ-45 index was down 7.34 points at 545.12.

The Indonesian rupiah was trading at 9,160/9,170 to the US dollar, compared to 9,175/9,179 late Wednesday.

(1 US dollar = 9,133 rupiah)
