Allegheny Energy's third-quarter profit misses Wall Street target |

SAN FRANCISCO (Thomson Financial) - Allegheny Energy Inc. late Thursday reported third-quarter net earnings of $115 million, or 67 cents a share, below the 68-cent mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Financial.In the same quarter last year, the Greensburg, Pa.-based electric utility posted a net profit of $110.2 million, or 65 cents a share.Revenue in the quarter ended Sept, 30 rose to $846.6 million from $816.6 million.Analysts were expecting revenue of $991 million.Allegheny shares fell 92 cents to close at $58.04.Gabriel MadwaygmCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
