DuPont and Bio-Rad settle patent dispute |

NEW YORK (AP) - DuPont said Wednesday it will grant Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc. non-exclusive rights to its patents as part of a settlement over patents used for assay technology.Assays are normally used for clinical research or medical testing.The patents in question involved low-heat generating fluorometer devices usable in tests based on polymerase chain reaction technology, such as that used in DuPont Qualicon's BAX System, which can be used to test food samples for contamination.Further details weren't disclosed.Shares of DuPont fell 9 cents to $49.77 on the New York Stock Exchange in afternoon trading.
