India's Ranbaxy Laboratories launches cholesterol lowering drug in US

MUMBAI (Thomson Financial) - India's Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd said its unit Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc has launched cholesterol-lowering drug Pravastatin Sodium 80mg tablets in the US.

The pharmaceutical major said being the first-to-file, it will enjoy a 180 day exclusivity for the drug.

Pravastatin 80mg has annual sales of 209 mln usd.
