Altana Chemie unit FY sales up 43 pct on Eckart acquisition UPDATE |

(updating with details)FRANKFURT (AFX) - Altana AG said its remaining Chemie unit posted a full year sales of 1.294 bln eur, up 43 pct from 907 mln a year earlier, partly due to its acquisition of the Eckart Group.In addition, Chemie recorded a strong operating performance in all four divisions -- Additives & Instruments; Effect Pigments (Eckart); Electrical Insulation; and Coatings & Sealants.Altana's overall full year sales -- including the company's pharma ops which has been sold to the Danish Nycomed Group -- rose to 3.867 bln eur from 3.272 bln, driven largely by foreign business, said Altana in a statement.The result was the 11th record year in the company's old group structure, it added.The Altana group expects to book an EBT for 2006 of 800 mln eur, up almost 20 pct from 684 mln eur in 2005.Looking ahead to 2007, the company said sales growth is expected to be in the 'mid single-digit percent range'.Altana reiterated that it sees an average annual sales growth of 10 pct, of which 6 pct is expected to be organic.As previously announced, Altana said it is to pay a special dividend of 32 eur per share, as well as a dividend for the full-year 2006 of 1.30 eur per share.krysia.diver@afxnews.comkd/gpCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
