WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. (AP) - Drug developer Merck & Co. said Monday its diabetes drug Januvia received a license from the European Commission.The drug, approved by the Food and Drug Administration in October, is used by type 2 diabetes patients to improve glycemic control. The license from the European Commission is effective in all 27 member nations of the European Union.Merck said Januvia is now approved for use in 42 countries -- including Mexico, the U.S. and the Philippines.Merck shares fell 35 cents to $44.10 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
