OUTLOOK European, US data due out today

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - GERMANY

-The German May GfK consumer confidence index is also seen improving, if only in modest fashion, to 4.5 from 4.4

FRANCE

-The French April Insee business survey is seen staying put at 109.

-French March jobless numbers are seen dropping by 25,000 after a 15,000 drop in February.

-The French March jobless rate is seen staying put at a seasonally adjusted 8.4 pct.

UK

-The monthly Nationwide house index is forecast to show the UK housing market remains buoyant, with analysts forecasting a 0.6 pct month-on-month rise in house prices in April compared to 0.4 pct last month. On an annual basis, prices are expected to have grown 9.5 pct compared to 9.3 pct last month, with April's warm weather expected to boost growth.

'Prices last April were unusually subdued and we expect an increase this year to surpass it,' said Investec economist David Page.

US

-Weekly jobless claims for the week to April 21 are seen falling to 330,000 from 339,000 in the prior week.
