WASHINGTON (AP) - Entergy Corp.'s Pilgrim nuclear power plant near Plymouth, Mass., does not face any environmental obstacles to receiving a 20-year extension to its operating license, federal regulators said Friday. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission finished its final environmental impact statement as part of Entergy's proposal to renew its license until 2032. The current license expires in five years.Activists say the license should not be renewed, citing concerns about storage of spent nuclear fuel and the plant's vulnerability to a terrorist attack.New Orleans-based Entergy in January applied for permission to extend the license of the Pilgrim plant and the Vermont Yankee plant in southern Vermont.Shares of Entergy rose 9 cents to $99.60 in Friday afternoon trading.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
