TOKYO (Thomson Financial) - The value of domestic shipments of consumer electronic products was 8.8 percent higher at 226.1 billion yen in July than a year earlier, rising for the second straight month, the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA) said.The JEITA said the volume of shipments of flat-panel televisions had risen last month, with deliveries of plasma display panel TVs surging by 60.1 percent to 74,000 sets and deliveries of liquid crystal display TVs up 40.4 percent at 568,000 sets.In contrast, shipments of cathode-ray tube TVs declined by 68.1 percent to 46,000 sets.Shipments of DVD recorders and players climbed 12.4 percent to 494,000.(1 US dollar = 116.20 yen)kaori.kaneko@thomson.comkk/jgkk/jgCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
