CVC buy of Taminco cleared by EU

BRUSSELS (Thomson Financial) - The European Commission said it has cleared CVC Capital Partners' proposed 800 mln eur acquisition of Belgian chemicals group Taminco.

The transaction was examined under the EU's 'simplified' merger review procedure for cases which the commission believes do not pose competition concerns.

Taminco produces alkylamines and derivatives, used in the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, animal feed and water treatment industries.

The group was formed following a carve-out from pharmaceutical group UCB SA in October 2003.
