Sanofi-Aventis says will 'strongly defend rights' in Ypsomed patent lawsuit

PARIS (Thomson Financial) - Sanofi-Aventis said it will 'strongly defend' its rights to 'ensure availability of our products to our patients' after Swiss pharmaceuticals group Ypsomed filed a breach of patent lawsuit against the French company.

'We are aware of the lawsuit but our understanding of the situation is prelminary,' said a Sanofi-Aventis spokesman, adding that it was too early to give any indication of the timescale of the legal proceedings.

'Sanofi-Aventis respects all the legally valid patent rights of third parties,' the spokesman said.
