LONDON (Thomson Financial) - UK chemicals group Ineos said it is proceeding with a 70 mln eur biodiesel expansion project in France, a key part of its target to double the annual capacity of its Baleycourt biodiesel complex to 230,000 tonnes. It is pursuing the project jointly with French farming cooperative SICLAĆ and C Thywissen, which runs an oil mill in Germany. The project involves the construction of a new oilseed crushing unit and a vegetable oil refining plant at the Baleycourt site in Verdun. It will allow 400,000 tonnes of locally produced rapeseed to be transformed into oil and then biodiesel, Ineos said in a statement.'This is a major milestone in our plans to become Europe's premier biodiesel supplier with more than 2 mln tonnes of biodiesel output from new Europe-wide investments by 2012, with at least half of this by 2010,' said Harry Deans, chief executive of Ineos Enterprises.monicca.egoy@thomson.commbe/roCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
