TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd plans this summer to start producing plasma televisions in Russia and LCD sets in India, the Nikkei reported, without citing sources.The company intends to almost quadruple its output capacity for flat-panel TVs in emerging markets to 2 mln units annually in the year to March 2008, with the aim of selling all of the sets locally, the business newspaper said.In Russia, Matsushita plans to roll out almost 300,000 plasma TVs annually, it said.In India, Matsushita plans to crank out some 30,000 LCD TVs a year, by retooling its existing cathode-ray tube TV plant, the Nikkei said.Starting this summer, Matsushita also intends to use existing facilities in Brazil and Malaysia to produce LCD TVs, according to the paper.(1 usd = 117.92 yen)yasuhiko.seki@xfn.comys/mas
