TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - Sony Computer Entertainment Inc said that chairman and chief executive officer Ken Kutaragi will resign effective June 19 and become honorary chairman.President and chief operating officer Kazuo Hirai will take his place by concurrently serving as CEO of the Sony Corp subsidiary.Kutaragi oversaw the development of the first PlayStation console and nurtured the Sony group's game operations. But due to a large investment burden resulting from the Cell microprocessor that powers the PS3 and a lack of game line-up, its latest game console is believed to have gotten off to a shaky start, in comparison to rival platform such as Microsoft Corp's Xbox360 and Nintendo Co Ltd's Wii.Nintendo said yesterday it had delivered 5.84 mln Wii consoles by the end of March, largely in line with its original commitment to ship 6.0 mln units.(1 usd = 119.58 yen)yasuhiko.seki@xfn.comys/mas
