FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Merck KGaA's CEO Michael Roemer said he sees the possible sale of the company's generics business as a step in the right direction.'We aim to guarantee the company's future in growth markets using innovation. Mass market drugs were never one of Merck's goals, which is why the possible sale of the generics business into a consolidating market could be a step in the right direction for the future of the company,' Roemer said at the company's annual general meeting in Darmstadt. He added however that Merck is still in the process of assessing its options, and has not come to a final decision on whether or not to sell the division.krysia.diver@thomson.comkd/bsdCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
