MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Italian industrial output on a seasonally and work-day adjusted basis grew 1.1 pct in June from May, slowing from the 1.4 pct growth rate expected for May, according to a survey by the research office of Italian employers' association Confindustria.

Year-on-year, work-day adjusted output rose 4.5 pct in June compared with the 1.8 pct growth rate expected for May, Confindustria said adding that the unadjusted output figures were the same as the work-day adjusted ones since the number of working days was the same.

Confindustria said new orders by industrial companies rose a yearly 2.3 pct in June but compared with May they grew just 0.1 pct.

National statistics office ISTAT will publish industrial output data for May on July 10.

In April, the latest figures available from ISTAT, unadjusted industrial output rose 4.0 pct on the year while work-day adjusted output increased a yearly 0.8 pct. On a monthly basis, seasonally adjusted industrial production fell 0.8 pct.
