TOKYO (Thomson Financial) - Japan's second-largest auto maker by sales Honda Motor Co said Tuesday its global output in July rose 6.0 percent from a year earlier to 290,845 vehicles, marking the 24th straight monthly rise on brisk output outside Japan which more than offset the adverse impact of the powerful earthquake last month.

The car maker suspended part of its domestic production for several days after the strong earthquake on July 16 paralysed the flagship plant of Riken Corp, a major supplier of key engine components to all Japanese car makers.

Output was up 27.7 percent in Asia, up 11.4 percent in North America and up 22.3 percent in Europe, Honda said.

The company gave the following data for July, with year-on-year percentage changes:

Domestic vehicle output - down 11.1 percent at 97,986 units

Domestic vehicle sales - down 17.6 percent at 46,380 units

Exports - up 16.8 percent at 60,567 vehicles

Overseas output - up 17.6 percent at 192,859 vehicles

Global production - up 6.0 percent at 290,845 vehicles
