TOKYO - European users who purchase Sony Corp's PlayStation 3 (PS3) console after it is launched in Europe on March 23 will not be able to play all games from the console's predecessor, the Japanese company saidPS3s sold in Japan and the United States contain two chips that allow users to also play PlayStation 2 games, but the European version will have different hardware, Sony Computer Entertainment spokeswoman Nanako Kato said.'Limited numbers' of PlayStation 2 titles will play on PS3 consoles sold in Europe but the exact number was not yet known, she said.'We wanted to make sure that we have as many units as possible delivered to European customers, so for that we took this measure to ensure that we have enough shipments,' she said.Some games might not run at all but others may only encounter problems with sound in certain scenes, Kato said.afp
