Daily Mail flags return to growth at national titles |

LONDON (AFX) - UK newspaper publisher Daily Mail & General Trust unveiled a healthy rise in advertising revenues at its national titles in the fiscal first half, raising hopes that the near two-year recession in the newspaper ad market could he nearing an end.The owner of the Mail titles and the London Evening Standard said total advertising revenues at its Associated Newspapers increased by 10 pct in the five months to the end of February.That comprised a 4 pct rise in print ad sales at its national titles, reflecting the Mail's outperformance of its tabloid rivals over the period, and a 141 pct jump in its internet revenues.The picture was slightly different at DMGT's regional division, Northcliffe, which suffered a a 3 pct year-on-year drop in total ad sales in the first five months of the fiscal year.simon.duke@thomson.comsdCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
