PARIS (Thomson Financial) - Hartmut Mehdorn, head of German rail operator Deutsche Bahn, said the state-owned company would be interested in an opening-up of the French market to competition. In an interview with French paper Les Echos, Mehdorn said that Germany's high-speed ICE trains could provide regional connections in France, 'in cooperation with the SNCF', France's national rail operator.Referring to the Alleo joint venture, set up for the high-speed line in the east of France, he added: 'Our partnership on the TGV Est Europeen routes will allow us to learn more about each other and could lead to other joint operations.'Mehdorn also reiterated that the partial privatisation of Deutsche Bahn and its flotation will happen in the first half of 2008.tf.TFN-Europe_newsdesk@thomson.comafp/vlb/rarCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
