WASHINGTON (AP) - Ground-based trade among the U.S. and its North American neighbors grew by 5.3 percent in April to $65 billion, a government report said Thursday.The growth in ground-based trade, which consists mainly of shipments by truck, rail and pipeline between the U.S., Canada and Mexico, was the second-straight month of increases compared with a year earlier, according to data released Thursday by the Transportation Department's Bureau of Transportation Statistics.April's results were down from a March figure of $69.8 billion, the highest-ever monthly level.Overall, the U.S. continued to import more goods from its neighbors than it exported to them.The U.S. imported $23.8 billion in goods from Canada in April, up 2.9 percent from the prior year, compared with exports of $18.6 billion, up 5.9 percent from a year earlier.The value of imports from Mexico rose 9.2 percent from a year earlier to $13.1 billion.
