Honeywell to work on renewable jet fuel |

DES PLAINES, Ill. (AP) - Honeywell International Inc. said Thursday one of its subsidiaries plans to accelerate efforts to convert vegetable oil into military jet fuel.Honeywell said the U.S. government has provided $6.7 million in funding for its UOP subsidiary and others to develop a marketable system for making jet fuel from renewable substances.UOP will collaborate on the project with Honeywell Aerospace, Cargill and Sandia National Laboratories among others. Work is scheduled for completion by the end of 2008.Shares of Honeywell International Inc. rose 46 cents to $56.77 in midday trading.Copyright 2007 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
