BPM denies official talks underway with Unipol over tie-up |

MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Banca Popolare di Milano denied a report it has entered talks with Unipol SpA regarding a possible tie-up between the two groups.'There are currently no official talks underway with Unipol,' a spokesman for BPM said.According to a report in the daily MF today, BPM and Unipol have entered preliminary talks to merge their banking and insurance businesses.The report added, however, that BPM management has only held talks with Unipol's adviser Credit Suisse and no direct negotiations have yet started.stephen.jewkes@thomson.comsj/lamCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
