SYDNEY (AFX) - Leighton Holdings Ltd said it has won 500 mln aud of new work in Western Australia and India.The company, 53 pct owned by Germany's Hochtief AG, said its mining contractor, Thiess, has signed a three-year extension to 2009 for contract mining at BHP Billtion's Mount Keith nickel mine in Western Australia, worth 393 mln aud.There are currently 95 mln metric tons of material being moved annually at the open cut mine, 1,100 km from Perth in the north eastern goldfields of Western Australia.In India Leighton said its Leighton Asia (Southern) unit has secured two tollroad projects worth a total of 160 mln usd or 200 mln aud in a joint venture with Oriental Structural Engineers.Leighton's share of the work is worth about 80 mln aud.The joint venture is responsible for widening and upgrading national highway three from Indore to Khakghat in Madhya Pradesh State.(1 usd = 1.29 aud)bruce.hextall@xfn.com
