TOKYO (AFX) - Retail sales in December were down 0.3 pct from the previous year, the second straight monthly fall, and followed a 0.2 pct fall in November, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said.Sales at large retail stores fell 3.4 pct after adjustments for the change in the number of stores, the third straight monthly decline, and also dropped 2.6 pct on an unadjusted basis, the ministry said.Sales at the wholesale level were up 3.9 pct last month, and commercial sales -- or combined sales at the wholesale and retail levels -- rose 2.9 pct, the ministry said.(1 usd = 121.52 yen)kaori.kaneko@xfn.comxfnkk/xfnzr
