MUNICH (AFX) - Premiere AG, Germany's only pay-television channel, said it has acquired the German broadcasting rights for English Premier League football matches until 2009-2010.Premiere already broadcasts 120 Premier League matches but will expand its coverage to 320 matches per season, it said.The German pay-TV broadcaster is hoping that the presence of German players such as Jens Lehmann at Arsenal and Michael Ballack at Chelsea will attract German viewers.Financial details were not disclosed, but Premiere had been bidding jointly with cable operator Unity Media.Premiere lost the broadcasting rights for matches of the German premier league, Bundesliga, at the end of 2005.newsdesk@afxnews.comafp/jfb/jsaCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
