China A-shares end morning sharply higher on US rally; financials, airlines lead |

SHANGHAI (XFN-ASIA) - China A-shares finished the morning session sharply higher led financial firms, with sentiment overall getting a boost from two days of solid gains on Wall Street.Airline stocks also posted strong gains due to a pullback in oil prices and amid media reports that Air China may propose a new plan for a merger with China Eastern Airlines.The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index ended the morning up 90.07 points 1.88 pct at 4,893.47.The Shanghai A-share Index rose 94.53 points to 5,136.36 and the Shenzhen A-share Index was up 13.34 points at 1,293.96.The FTSE/Xinhua China A 50 Index was up 381.12 points at 19,037.75, while the FTSE/Xinhua China A 200 Index was up 217.92 points to 13,549.24.(1 usd = 7.4 yuan)lilian.wu@xfn.com-xfnlw/xfnrcCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
