India's Ranbaxy Laboratories to sell Isoptin SR in US |

MUMBAI (Thomson Financial) - India's largest pharmaceutical company Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd said it has started the production and sale of its first authorised generic drug Isoptin SR (Verapamil Sit) in the US.Ranbaxy said it has launched Isoptin, used for hypertension and angina treatment, through its full-owned subsidiary Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc after an agreement with North Carolina-based FSC Laboratories Inc.Ranbaxy spokesperson Krishnan Ramalingam said, 'Currently, we are manufacturing Verapamil in the US but at a later stage would like to bring its production in India to reduce cost and increase margins'In a statement, Ranbaxy said the generic market for Verapamil SR is worth 122.2 mln usd with limited competition from two other companies.TFN.newsdesk@thomson.comyos/aku/gpCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
