MADRID (AFX) - Bolivia's President Evo Morales is considering nationalising the country's telecommunications operator Entel, the Bolivian news agency ABI reported, citing comments by Morales.'We are under the obligation to recover companies which were once owned by the state ... why not include this telecommunications company?' Morales said in a speech before thousands of farm workers.Morales added that his government is currently examining the nationalisation of Entel with lawyers.Telecom Italia SpA's mobile division TIM owns around 50 pct of Entel and 44 pct is held by pension funds in the hands of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA and Zurich Finance.In May 2006, the Bolivian government's demand that BBVA surrender shares it held in Bolivian oil companies through its pension fund in the country after the partial nationalisation of the industry was estimated at 3 mln eur, according to financial sources.afxmadrid@afxnews.comped/jdy/jrCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
