Alliant gets $330M Army deal |

MINNEAPOLIS (AFX) - Military contractor Alliant Techsystems Inc. said on Tuesday it received a $330 million contract from the Army to provide ammunition and to modernize plant operations.The Army placed a $284 million order for small-caliber ammunition for the U.S. military and awarded a $46 million pact to modernize the Army's Lake City ammunition plant in Independence, Mo. The plant, operated by Alliant, produces 1.4 billion rounds of ammunition per year.Shares of Alliant gained 3 cents to $80.65 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
