Mylan Labs gets generic VoSpire FDA OK |

PITTSBURGH (AFX) - Drug maker Mylan Laboratories Inc. said Tuesday its Mylan Pharmaceuticals unit received approval from the Food and Drug Administration to sell a generic version of an extended-release lung drug.The agency approved Mylan's application for 4-milligram and 8-milligram tablets of extended-release albuterol sulfate, the active ingredient of Dava Pharmaceuticals' VoSpire ER.Mylan said the product will be shipped immediately.The drug is a bronchodilator approved to treat spasms from obstructive respiratory diseases like asthma, chronic bronchitis, and other chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases.Mylan shares fell 12 cents to $21.87 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
