FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Deutsche Post World Net AG's unit Williams Lea said it won a 700 mln eur contract to deliver outsourced print procurement and marketing solutions from The Reader's Digest Association.It said in a statement the exclusive partnership with Reader's Digest will run over several years.'As the German mail market stagnates, Deutsche Post's strategy of investing in global growth markets is really paying off,' the statement quoted Frank Appel, member of Deutsche Post's management board.Meanwhile, Williams Lea on Oct 26 started operations in Germany to run under its own brand Deutsche Post's in-house service for corporate customers which scans and electronically forwards large companies' mail.Deutsche Post's chief executive Klaus Zumwinkel announced the move in a press interview last week.Deutsche Post is under pressure to commit corporate customers to its services as its monopoly on mail below 50g ends Jan 1, 2008.Separately, Appel said Deutsche Post will sign this week a strategic partnership with India's post to enter 'one of the world's largest and most promising markets at an early stage'.He said details of the agreement will be worked out over the coming months.frederik.richter@thomson.comfr1/jlcCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
