MADISON, N.J., (AP) - Drug maker Wyeth said Friday it promoted Joseph M. Mahady to the new position of president of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and senior vice president of Wyeth, effective Jan. 1, 2008.

Mahady, 54, joined the company in 1979 and has served in a succession of roles, most recently as president of global business for Wyeth's pharmaceutical business.

Separately, Wyeth promoted Cavan M. Redmond to president of Wyeth Consumer Healthcare, effective Dec. 1. The division markets over-the-counter cold medications, vitamins and pain killers. Redmond, 46, previously headed the company's BioPharma business.

The company also promoted Douglas A. Rogers, 47, to president of U.S. and Global New Business for Wyeth Consumer Healthcare, effective Dec. 1. He was previously president of the Wyeth Consumer Healthcare.

Richard R. DeLuca, 45, was elected president of Fort Dodge Animal Health, replacing E. Thomas Corcoran, 60, who is retiring.

Wyeth announced earlier in the year that President and Chief Operating Officer Bernard Poussot, 55, will succeed Robert Essner as chief executive officer, starting Jan. 1. Essner, 60, will then become non-executive chairman of the board.

Wyeth shares rose 43 cents Friday to $49.43.
