LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Murchison United NL said it is preparing to start the first phase of an extensive drilling programme this year within its portfolio of uranium projects in the Republic of Guinea in West Africa.The minerals exploration company said the initial drilling programme scheduled to start within ten days, will be at the Firawa prospect in southern Guinea to test for a have ry large' uranium resource base extending for over five kilometres.While the Firawa prospect is one of three concessions held in Guinea, the company added that drilling of the Bohoduo prospect has been deferred due to delays and difficulties in obtaining access to drill rigs, and the expected onset of the rainy season in June-July.In a statement, the company said it has secured a portfolio of uranium exploration projects comprising some 13,600 sq kilometres of highly prospective tenements in Mauritania and Guinea, West Africa.TFN.newsdesk@thomson.comrsh/tsm/slmCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
