United Technologies gets $9.8M Navy deal

WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. Navy on Friday awarded a $9.8 million contract to a unit of United Technologies Corp. for CH-53 helicopter blade extenders.

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. will perform the work in Stratford, Conn. and Manchester, Conn. through September 2011. The Navy did not specify how many blades extenders it was planning to buy.

Shares of United Technologies fell 16 cents to $70.93.
