Australia's Qantas buys express freight operator DPEX Worldwide

SYDNEY (Thomson Financial) - Australian flag carrier Qantas Airways said Friday it has bought express freight operator DPEX Worldwide.

It gave no financial details.

Qantas said the acquisition will allow it to enter the Asian express freight market. DPEX's network includes 18 Asian countries.

'This is a high-growth market that complements Qantas' focus on Asian air freight and our Australian express operations and provides a great building block for expansion and growth,' said the airline's executive general manager for freight enterprises, Grant Fenn.

(1 US dollar = 1.22 Australian dollars)
